Meet your Student Engagement and Business Development Team!
|Ryerson Liberal Arts Society x Ryerson Engineering Student Society Joint Board Retreat|
Hello! We hope you've been having a great summer break so far. Allow us to introduce the newest addition to the Faculty of Arts Student Experience Centre: Stephen, Marzia, and Serena. Together we are your Student Engagement and Business Development team (SEBD)! Our goal is to support and grow student initiatives in the Arts Faculty, specifically working closely with the Ryerson Liberal Arts Society (RLAS) and affiliated student groups.
Don't be afraid to say hi! We're a friendly bunch with open ears and are always ready for fresh ideas from Arts students.
Get to know each of us below!
Stephen Kassim is the Manager, Student Relations and Development for the Faculty of Arts. Before starting in the Faculty of Arts, Stephen worked as the Special Projects Coordinator for the DMZ at Ryerson University where he supported the Executive Director and DMZ in projects and initiatives relating to building relationships, increasing reputation and driving excellence. Prior to that, he worked as the Advisor, Student Engagement & Business Development for the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD), where he supported the Ryerson Communication and Design Society and student leaders and student-led initiatives within FCAD. Stephen is a proud alumnus from the Politics and Governance program at Ryerson.
Marzia Riaz is one of the Special Projects Assistant for the Student Experience & Business Development team (SEBD) this summer. In 2015 she chaired the Ryerson Arts Society (RAS) steering committee and led the successful 2015 Referendum, she later continued on with RAS as the 2015-2016 President. Along with RAS she was also involved with her course union as the Vice-President of Events and with Ryerson Central Orientation as a volunteer and served as one of the three FoA directors on the 2016-2017 RSU board. Additionally, she has spent the past year as the Student Life Assistant with the Faculty of Arts working on projects such as the 2016 Arts Enrollment and Orientation, student group support and more. This summer her goal is to bring all these experiences together to work with RLAS to promote student excellence and increase the FoA value.
If you ever want to grab ice cream, don't forget to swing by POD 344B (please don't get lost)! Serena Kwok is always there if you need help, guidance, or just for a chat. She’s an upper year Journalism student in the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) and is one-half of your Arts Faculty Special Projects Assistants. She's also the Vice President Corporate Relations at the Ryerson Communication and Design Society and a FCAD Director for the Ryerson Students' Union. Her goal this summer is to inspire Arts students to see that they have the ability to strive for more and help develop recognition for the faculty in the external community. Serena is excited to work with RLAS, other Arts student groups and ultimately meeting more Arts students. She can’t wait for the Arts orientation week and the wild ride it will be!
